Lighting Overview
Lighting is used to create mood, enhancing the emotional quality you're trying to achieve. You can have drama, dread, terror, happiness, humor, sadness...all can be perfected with good sets lit by smart lighting design. In the 2003 movie, Under The Tuscan Sun, a divorced woman on vacation finds a home and buys it on impulse. It looks like it needs a makeover, a metaphor for the woman's life perhaps. Through the course of the movie, we see the drab, run down house transformed into a beautiful home. What's unknown, though, is that during the filming, no changes to the house were made. The illusion of transformation was all done with lighting.
